Seventeen is a charm for the Cannoneers. The boys from Watervliet completed a sweep winning the spring and fall championships in 2007. MVP Kevin Deguire hit 4 different receivers for TD’s and scored on a 6-yard run of his own. Deguire finished the game 25 for 37 424 yards and 4 TD passes against two picks. The Cannoneers 40-15 victory over a shocked Warriors team put the finishing touches on Kevin Deguire’s brilliant career. Deguire has won every award in the CDFFL and will go down as one of the greatest players in CDFFL history. The Cannoneers 17th championship should stand the test of time.

The Titans and Lanies gave the fans the best game of the day and solidified the Titans as the kings of the “B” division. An impressive 32-26 victory gave the Ravena kids a taste of years past, when they would win high school titles behind the running of Gary Jones. On Sunday Jones replaced an ineffective Carkner at QB and guided the offense to 4 TD’s. In the opening half MVP C.J. Tarver returned a punt 55-yards for a TD and 7-0 lead. Lanies QB John Miley engineered two drives and Lanies found themselves up 12-7 before Jones took control of the offense and the game.

The season of high expectations is over for now. The Ruck finished off a perfect season with an impressive 31-7 victory over AC Body Works. AC hung tough trailing 7-0 late in the first half. In the second half AC cut the score in half 14-7 before the wheels fell off their season. MVP Gee Rowe scored 3 TD’s and threw for another as the offense and defense of the Ruck was just too much. The AC secondary made play after play trying to keep the game close but an ineffective pass rush and overmatched offense hurt AC all day. The Ruck will play in two tournaments before the season ends.
