The title stolen from a Linkin Park song holds true in the CDFFL “A” division. Legends losing 10-6 for most of the game put one final scoring drive together and defeated the hard luck Mean Machine 13-10 in a pivotal “A” division contest. If Mean Machine won the league would have had three teams with 4-3 records with one game remaining. Legends avoided a 4-3 record by coming up big late and keeping pace with the Predators at 5-2 for second place. The “A” teams may not admit this but finishing second or third allows your team to avoid the Cannoneers (7-0) until the championship. Finishing in fourth or fifth place is not healthy when playing two games in one day against a Cannoneer team resting and watching.

The referee calling in the scores left a message about a triple overtime game that was wild and exciting. The Gamecocks and Hurricanes faced off for first place Sunday and the players left everything on the field. The Hurricanes pulled off an exciting 44-38 win securing the division title and first round bye in the playoffs. On the flip side the Gamecocks are having a great season and will do some damage in the playoffs. The Hurricanes I expected to be 7-0 and driving toward a championship. The Gamecocks prior to opening day were not high on anyone’s championship prediction list. The Gamecocks playing in their sixth “B” season have gone 4-4, 5-4, 3-6, 1-7, 4-5 respectfully. At 5-2 with one game remaining things look bright for the future.

First Hudson Dusters (2-4) defeats The Terminal (5-1) 9-6 in Troy. Then in Albany the Bombers (3-3) knock off Perfect Cut (5-1) 13-12 in overtime. Two upsets that caused havoc in each division. Hudson now 3-4 has playoff life depending on the tiebreaker formula. The Terminal dropped out of a first place tie and will fight in week eight for seeding purposes instead of a division title. The Bombers have life @ 4-3 if they win their last game there in the playoffs. Perfect Cut now 5-2 will drop in the overall playoffs seeding with the loss.
